Salute to the Heroes of Pakistan Army

August 6, 2009

Compiled From Difference Resources By M. Abubakar Minhas, Islamabad (minhas@minhas.tk)

In the ongoing war against terrorists, the army is carrying out major operations to cleanse the country from the menace of terrorism. The major scale operation which is ongoing is called “Operation Rah e Raast”. Before that we witnessed “Operation Rah e Haq” (2007-2008) which got lesser media coverage due to the misinterpretation on part of the countrymen that the operation was not justified and was infact against so called brothers. Time told us how false our concepts were.

Capt Jonaid Khan Shaheed

In this war, hundreds of sons of soil have laid their lives for Pakistan. It is only because of these sacrifices that our country can still stand tall, and we are able to live freely in this land of the pure. We all, as a nation, owe these martyrs too much to be ever repaid.

“I am going to embrace Shahadat”. These were the last words of Captain Najam Riaz Raja to his parents when he left for Swat. And he did prove to be a man of his words. He embraced shahadat along with three other commandos last Tuesday. He was captured by the terrorists under mysterious circumstances on 21 April while he along with his three other companions were out of their camp in Swat Valley.

The Commissioner Malakand, Muhammad Javed even visited them in captivity but didn’t do anything about it as he was clearly sympathetic towards these terrorists. And it is also widely said that he had helped the taliban to trap the soldiers, since he knew about their positions.

Last Tuesday, eight terrorists entered the room where these four commandos had been kept. The terrorists had with them, a rope, a video camera and some swords. The commandos knew what was coming. Even though they were unarmed, in a matter of seconds, the four commandos jumped at the terrorists and within seconds, broke the necks of all eight of them. That was when two more of these terrorists entered the room and sprayed these men with bullets resulting in the martyrdom of Captain Najam Riaz Raja, Captain Jonaid Khan and two other soldiers.

“Just let them come to me once, and then I’ll show them how a Pakistani fights for his motherland” said Major Zia ul Haque to his friend before going on his mission. Little did we know he would be so quick in proving what he said. Everyone knew Maj. Zia as as a self-made man who grew up as an orphan while his great mother raised him and his sister all alone, since his father has deceased when he was only 1 year old.

SNP0153A Major Zia was deputed in PMA, which is considered as a key assignment in the career of an army officer. Despite that, he was interested in joining the battle against terrorists, which was taking place in Swat. He was then posted at Matta where he stayed for a few months. His last talk with a friend’s mother was “Now is the testing time for us, and I will  prove something”.

It was the morning when he had just finished his prayer and was about to start his day as usual, reportedly above 350 miscreants started climbing toward his post. Himself and 4 soldiers fought till many of miscreants were killed and the remaining ran away. When the guns had recoiled, again the miscreants attacked with even more might and this time the soldiers fought well but due to their small number, were wounded badly.

At that time the miscreants started to enter the post when Major Zia attacked the intruders with his bayonet and killed 8 of them before he was shot from point blank range, both on his chest and his forehead, even then he grabbed a pistol and kept firing till his last breath. This misadventure cost the miscreants a death toll of above 150. At the time of shahadat, the officer is survived by a widow, a 2 year old daughter and a 9 days old son.

Maj Zia ul Haq Shaheed

Captain Bilal Zafar Abbasi, always used to say “Bullets can’t harm me”, and thus it proved true. During an intense combat with terrorists, he was hit on the arm by a bullet but he carried on until he was hit by an RPG (Rocket propelled grenade) where he embraced martyrdom on the spot.  His last SMS message has been circulated widely on print and electronic media.

This is what he had to say: “In the volleys of fire. in the thunder of bombs, there are a few who just do not stop.knowing that they are surrounded by death. Knowing that they could leave their wives widows and children orphans, but they just keep on moving because something is pumping in their hearts, and flowing through their veins known as honor, devotion and motivation. Death over surrender. That is why they say death before disgrace. Pakistan Army Zindabad”

Capt Bilal Zafar Shaheed

On the fateful morning of May 18, 2009 Major Abid Majeed Malik’s brother Major Khalid was entrusted the task of recurring the area from Shalpalam to Jura whereas Major Abid Majeed’s company was responsible for securing the area from Jura to Nazarabad. Major Khalid’s company successfully secured the area followed by Major Abid Majeed. Thereafter Major Abid Majeed’s company was ordered to more forward. Thirteen vehicles of the company moved to safety however the last vehicle came under heavy and precise firing, near a nullah bend, by the militants. The driver of the vehicle embraced martyrdom there and then. No more movement was possible as the route was blocked. The forward troops tried to move back and rescue the trapped soldiers, however due to accurate and effective firing by the militants the movement was not possible. It was then at 1645 hrs that Major Abid Majeed decided to move back himself. He took two soldiersthe first aid kit and a water bottle and ordered his company to engage the militants.   untitled

In the rain of bullets he rushed to site, dragged the two bleeding soldiers Sepoy Tariq and Sepoy Nausherwan to a place of safety. He immediately poured water into their mouths and then started bandaging them to stop the flow of blood. In the meantime his shoulder got exposed and shot. Not bettered by it, he kept engaged himself in the task of bandaging. The second bullet hit in his ribs, still did not prevent him from completing his task. Unmoved by the blood gushing out of his wounds he dragged the soldiers to a safer place.

In the process he was hit by three bullets and he fell down. While bleeding profusely, he took the wireless to talk to his brother Major Khalid (for the last time), who was 100 meters away. BROTHER I HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH TO SO AND SO, DO NOT FORGET IT. TAKE CARE OF THE MOTHER AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE THE JOB OF ELIMINATING THE MISCREANTS INCOMPLETE. I WISH I COULD MARCH ON TO MINGORA AND SEE IT CLEAR OF THE MILITANTS. And then he succumbed to his injuries but he managed to save the lives of two soldier/comrades.

Sepoy Tariq and Nowsharwan can not control their tears at the mention of Major Abid’s name. The only words they utter are “Why Major Sahib why not us”

  16. Today Pakistan owes it’s existence to these brave sons of the soil let’s work as one nation to consolidate the initiative taken by the army and fight extremism at every level.

  17. May Allah Subhan Tallah bless these Mujahids with the endless Rahmat and rest their sacred souls in heaven. I just want to mention here that it is absolutely disappointing and anguishing that there are still many Pakistani men who disgrace Pak armed forces and say openely that this army of ours cannot fight with any enemy, they are just to kill their own people. These people should see these heroes and if still they have doubts then this means they themselves are coward and impotent who can’t do anything for their country but criticise sitting in their drawing room………..I have no doubt in my mind that INSHALLAH PAk armed forces shall definitely become that force that would certailnly safeguard PAKISTAN but also take the flag of ISLAM to its heights and bring the UMMAH its lost glory……………………INSHALLAH ..

    • Brother these kind of pooples will be among us all the time but they were there from Prophet Mohammad Sallala-ho-alaihay-wasalam’s time. Like “ABDULLAH BIN ABBEE”. He was Muslim outside and Kaffir inside. These kind of people’s will never stop to damage ISLAM AND MEDIA-E-SANEE which is Pakistan. We respect our army dearly. May allah bless all of them and all of Muslims. May allah give us unity and strengh to defend MEDIA-E-SANEE.

OUR SALAAM AND WELL WISHES TO ARMY, NAVY AND AIR FORCE OF PAKISTAN.

INSHAALLAH WE WILL WIN AGAINST KUFFUR.

      ALALH HAFIZ

  18. Its really ironic the nation with extremely talented and brave people is suffering so much by the hand few corrupt people. But I do believe its pain and suffering which make the nation great. I still believe no matter what our enemy do it will make us stronger and there will be time that we will emerge as one of the greatest nations in the world. Allah Ahkbar
