‘Bhooka Nanga Hindustan’

August 1, 2009

YM020044

Kashmiris chanting ‘Bhooka Nanga Hindustan, Jaan se pyara Pakistan’ must make a whole lot more sense now to those who had been blinded by the ‘Shining India’ nonsense.

India is emerging as the world centre of hunger and malnutrition, a report by Indian campaign group, the Navdanya Trust, says. So… not quite the ’emerging / global superpower’ then is it?

The trust says that there are more than 200 million people – or one-in-four Indians – going without enough to eat. The prominent environmentalist Vandana Shiva, who runs the trust, said there were now more hungry people in India than in sub-Saharan Africa.

    UN Report:

    • Indian rulers forget its poor : –

New Delhi: India is failing its rural poor with 230 million people being undernourished — the highest for any country in the world. Malnutrition accounts for nearly 50% of child deaths in India as every third adult (aged 15-49 years) is reported to be thin (BMI less than 18.5). According to the latest report on the state of food insecurity in rural India, more than 1.5 million children are at risk of becoming malnourished because of rising global food prices. While general inflation declined from a 13-year high exceeding 12% in July 2008 to less than 5% by the end of January 2009, the inflation for food articles doubled from 5% to over 11% during the same period. Foodgrain harvest during 2008-09 is estimated to be a record 228 million tonnes. However, the requirement for the national population would exceed 250 million tonnes by 2015. India ranks 94th in the Global Hunger Index of 119 countries, the report said. Brought out by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the report points to some staggering figures. More than 27% of the world’s undernourished population lives in India while 43% of children (under 5 years) in the country are underweight. The figure is among the highest in the world and is much higher than the global average of 25% and also higher than sub-Saharan Africa’s figure of 28%.

      Only 11% get higher education

Mysore: Only 11% had the access to higher education in the country in the year 2006-07, which is too low compared to 23% world average, University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat said. Recognising the grave need the 11th Plan aims to increase the GER to 21% by the end of 12th plan with an interim target of 15% by 2012. He was delivering his convocation address at the 89th convocation of the University of Mysore at the Crawford Hall on March 7, 2009.

      • INDIA SHINING
        40% child marriages

New Delhi: Forty per cent of the world’s child marriages take place in India, resulting in a vicious cycle of gender discrimination, illiteracy and high infant and maternal mortality rates. According to the UNICEF’s latest “State of the world’s children-2009” report, discrimination on the basis of gender has a direct impact on maternal health. It can deny girls and women access to education, prevent them from receiving or seeking adequate health care and bar them from making critical decisions that can affect their health and that of the new-born.

        Indian cities dying

India’s urban population is expected to double over the next two decades, to 575 m, yet its cities are already chocking. Bombay, South Asia’s biggest city, has 17m inhabitants, half of whom live in slums. The city’s rail network is overloaded and its roads are clogged up. According to the world Bank, 9% of potential industrial output in India is lost to power cuts. Some 600m Indians have no mains electricity at all. India’s 3.3 km road network is the world’s second-biggest, but most of it is pitiful. Its prize national highways — a vaunted infrastructure success of the previous government — account for only 2% of the total, and only 12% of them or 8,000 km, are dual carriageways. But the end of 2007 China had some 53,600 km of highways with four lanes or more. India’s urban roads are chocked.

        Shame on Indian scientists

Bangalore: Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Feb.9 regretted that the country is still dependent on foreign vendors for 70% of its defence requirements, despite claiming to have the world’s fourth largest scientific community. At the inaugural address of the Aero India 2009 International Seminar here, he said, “though India is among the few nations that possess the capacity to develop, test, manufacture and operate aircraft, it is far behind in realising the dream.

        Behind Pakistan in missiles

New Delhi: With active help from China and North Korea, Pakistan has surged well ahead of India in the missile arena. The only nuclear-capable ballistic missile in India’s arsenal which can be said to be 100% operational as of now is the short-range Prithvi missile. Though the 700-km Agni-I and 2,000-kmplus Agni-II ballistic missiles are being “inducted” into the armed forces, it will take “some time” for them to become fully operational in the numbers required.”

With USD 230 billions debts how can india manage to spend so much money on defence, TTP, BLA and other terrorist to destabilize Paksitan? Bear in mind some other nations (japan, china) have more debts; are not spending on defence but on there people instead.
india is supper power u know! akand barat, kashmir attot aang. we will see how long will this go! once the time come 60 years so called democracy will do nothing and the fate is just another U.S.S.R

  5. I hope people would enjoy reading this report of World Bank.

“The World Bank estimates that 456 million Indians (42% of the total Indian population) now live under the global poverty line of $1.25 per day (PPP). This means that a third of the global poor now reside in India. India has a higher rate of malnutrition among children under the age of three (46% in year 2007) than any other country in the world. The World Bank, citing estimates made by the World Health Organization, states that about 49 per cent of the world’s underweight children, 34 per cent of the world’s stunted children and 46 per cent of the world’s wasted children, live in India. 1/4 of the nation’s population earns less than the government-specified poverty threshold of 12 rupees per day (approximately USD $0.25). Official figures estimate that 27.5%. A 2007 report by the state-run National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector (NCEUS) found that 77% of Indians, or 836 million people, lived on less than 20 rupees (approximately USD $0.41) per day with most working in “informal labour sector with no job or social security, living in abject poverty. A proportionally large share of poor are lower castes. According to S. M. Michael, Dalits constitute the bulk of poor and unemployed. Many see the caste system as a system of exploitation of poor low-ranking groups by more prosperous high-ranking groups. In many parts of India, land is largely held by high-ranking property owners of the dominant castes that economically exploit low-ranking landless labourers and poor artisans, all the while degrading them with ritual emphases on their so-called god-given inferior status. The reign of the Islamic dynasty of the Great Mughals had been an era of unprecedented prosperity in India”

  7. INDIA IS GOING TO BE DESTROYED VERY SOON

  8. PAOPLE PLEASE UNFOLD INDIAN SCAM OF ITS FAKE POVERTY FRAUD

People please do not be fooled about world’s top organisation’s statistics on India and on its poverty. India sings poverty songs to the world and because of this India have managed to make billions of Dollars, armies, nukes and what not. India is getting constant supply of money and technologies on its so called poverty bases. Yet Pakistan has to do everything by itself to eliminate its poverty. Poverty in Pakistan is real as Pakistan was made with the ZERO=NAGITIVE Acuity in everything given to Pakistan. Yet India was made with all the wealth left behind only for India’s use, which was created by us Muslims. Pakistan was made on empty lands with nothing to its name.

People do not be fooled by Indian poverty DECEPTION. We should bang on say to the world to force India to scale down its military expenditures, cut down on RAW’s cost, shut down its nuclear programmes and tell us how India is making money to spend on terrorism which was used in Sri Lanka for the past 30 years, and also how India can afford to spend billions on terrorism in Pakistan through Afghanistan for the past 60 years, especially last seven to eight years?

People please do not be fooled and do not recite Indian poverty like a “fool would recite”. Unintentionally as a Pakistani and as a concerned citizen of this world, you are helping India to build further by obtaining more money from around the world on the basis of her so called “Fake Poverty”.

Indian government was given just this year one billion and eighty seven million by Britain alone as part of Indian poverty elevation programme as per year funding to India, yet India is rich enough to send its technology to moon mission and still cries of empty stomach of millions of Indians?

I would urge to all those out there to see through to this biggest scam India has been playing and still is playing with the world and especially with the Pakistanis. This deception had to be stopped. We have more poor in Latin America then in India. We have more poverty stricken countries here on earth then in India. PAOPLE PLEASE UNFOLD INDIAN SCAM OF ITS FAKE POVERTY!!!

  12. Here’s some more from AQ Lounge for the rats out here:
“Do you know that around 50,000 females are missing from India’s population at any given time because most of them are buried alive after birth?

For every 100 Indian men, there are less than 93 Indian women, and the number is going down, for the women that is.

And these are the best estimates. Chances are it is worse than what is being reported.

The world’s biggest democracy, India, is also home to the world’s biggest figures of child deaths, child labor, and child sex bondage. The real shocker, however, is female infanticide where it is an accepted practice in entire Indian villages in many cases to bury female newborns immediately after birth.

Again, this is not a limited phenomenon. It is an ACCEPTED PRACTICE in large swathes of India. As we speak, there is a baby girl somewhere in India, mostly outside the cities, being buried alive right now.

Don’t believe me. Check UN figures. Also check this report on an Indian site IndianChild.com

Burying girls alive is not the only anti-woman crime common in India and sanctioned by customs and religion.

There is also marrying off girls as young as 13 to older men.

Again, this is not about isolated incidents. There are entire regions in India where this is a common practice. India has a law against this but it is seldom enforced. If it was, more than 10% of India’s population would have been in jail now.

The latest is the story of Rekha Kalindi, a bright 13-year-old poor girl from a village just outside Kolkata, or Calcutta [read her story here]. Rekha’s story came to light because she said no to her parents who were marrying her off to a guy more than double her age. She happened to attend a foreign-run school and that’s why her story reached the media. She is lucky. Most of the girls her age in her area are married off before or just at the cusp of puberty.

But you won’t hear about this story on CNN or BBC. Now imagine if the same thing happened in Saudi Arabia for example, or Pakistan, or any other Muslim country. Both CNN and BBC and other outlets of the Am-Brit combine would be buzzing with coverage and spilling crocodile tears over the sad state of women in Muslim countries and so forth. Most of the time they exaggerate, since such practices are dying out even inside Saudi Arabia where they are on the extreme fringes of society and do not represent the mainstream Saudi women.

The same goes for Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt and other places. But any woman-related story from these countries is instantly picked up by CNN and BBC to feed a stereotype that indirectly justifies the so-called War on Terror, which in many ways is a War on Islam by the US-UK military-intelligence complex that wants a threat to justify the hunt for world’s riches.

Meanwhile, thousands of girls like Rekha go about in India being married off at 13 if they’re lucky and not buried alive at birth. And yet India gets away with building nuclear bombs and reactors, now with the active help of the United States. The Indian government is even spending hundreds of millions of dollars to send an Indian to space [most probably to open an offshore call center for the Russians, Americans, and the Chinese who are already there, so goes an online joke I read on a website posted by George Fernandes].

At this point you might ask me: Why India then gets preferential treatment and gets away with all of this?

Simple. India is the new cheap, well equipped slave-soldier for American and British plans in Asia. Who cares about 13-year-old Rekha Kalindi.

    Incredible India, isn’t it?”

  13. Dear , this is all apriciable because i need it i m working in a financial institution where management is indian and staff in majorty is indian.
