October 22, 2009

By Makhdoom Babar

The good terrorists are the guys who kill Indians in India and the bad terrorists are those who attack Pakistani interests whether in Afghanistan or in Pakistan.” “In other words, you blow up the Taj Mahal hotel in India, you’re a good guy, you blow up the Marriot in Islamabad you’re a bad guy. That is what the Pakistanis believe.”

These are the views of India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor which he expressed yesterday while talking to a noted US News Channel the CNN. Shahshi Tharoor is not just the Minister of State for External Affairs of India but till sometime back, he was India’s nominee for the slot of Secretary General of United Nations.

Missile strike could complicate Pakistan battle

October 21, 2009

PKKH | EXCLUSIVE

Just when the Pakistan Army has started a major operation against TTP and foreign militants in South Waziristan the US Military has started to stab Pakistan in the back again. First there are confirmed reports that US and NATO troops have moved back from border area surrounding South Waziristan and have given a big escape route for TTP to move back into Afghanistan.

Before starting this operation, Pakistan Army had won the loyalty of Hafiz GulBahadur, and Maulvi Nazir. Now when the operation is in full swing, and hard fought battle is raging on, when brave sons of Pakistan Army are sacrificing their lives for their nation, US drone handlers are hitting missiles at pro-Pakistan Taliban based in Waziristan so as to ignite them into joining Takfiri TTP.

This should be a lesson and a  wake up call for Pakistan Army and the entire Pakistani nation that US is double crossing us openly and the US always had ill-intention towards Pakistan. US interest can never align with Pakistan’s interest. It is imperative that all treaties or agreements done between President Musharaf and President Zardari with the US must be bought before media and canceled. Pakistan Army should cut off the NATO supply line from Karachi until Indian Consulates stop sending terrorists into Pakistan and until Drone attacks stop.

October 21, 2009

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that there is clear evidence of Indian involvement in Balochistan and that New Delhi should not be pointing fingers at Islamabad.

He added that Pakistan is well aware of the Indian involvement in Balochistan and if given the opportunity, they will present officials in New Delhi with concrete evidence. He was responding to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statements, when the federal minister warned that India should not hurl accusations at Pakistan as it is fighting a war on terror and is also holding trials of the Mumbai attack suspects. He said that India should respect Pakistan’s judicial system.

Anti-Pakistan TTP Terrorists Equipped With U.S., Indian, German, Weapons

October 21, 2009

In one case, Germany sent 10,000 small weapons to Afghanistan. Half of them have disappeared. This is a classic way of supporting insurgencies without being caught. German investigators can never accuse German intelligence of crossing the NATO mandate and helping CIA in extracurricular activities. The Americans are good at dismissing their double actions in Afghanistan as conspiracy theories. Here is a brief, detailed and sourced account of what types of foreign-origin sophisticated weapons are in use against the Pakistani military. A ragtag army of criminals, throat-slitters and mercenaries could never have faced one of the world’s largest organized armies if not for outside sophisticated support.

Zardari Spoke American At United Nations

October 21, 2009

Ahmed Quraishi

Mark Siegal, the American lobbyist for Pakistan appointed by President Asif Ali Zardari’s government, has become so influential that he was even assigned to write the speech the President delivered to the General Assembly last month, according to reliable sources in the presidency. And he charged the government of Pakistan $25,000 for the four-page speech, which should have been prepared by the Foreign Office in consultation with the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations.  The exorbitant amount was on top of the millions of dollars of Pakistani taxpayers’ money Seigal gets for his lobbying efforts aimed at promoting the Zardari government with congressional leaders and administration officials.

China projects occupied Kashmir as a separate country

October 21, 2009

TIMES OF INDIA: Besides issuing separate visas to Indian passport holders from Jammu and Kashmir, China is also projecting the disputed territory as
an independent country in other ways.

Visitors to Tibet, especially journalists invited by the Chinese government, are given handouts where Kashmir is indicated as a country separate from India. Media kits providing “basic information” about Tibet – which China attacked and annexed in the 1950s – says Tibet “borders with India, Nepal, Myanmar and Kashmir area”. Except the “Kashmir area”, the other three are sovereign countries.

Haqqani on Pakistan, Islam and Saudis

October 21, 2009

Ambassador Haqqani has been appearing on many fora in the US before and after he became ambassador for Pakistan.

A study of his remarks reveals an interesting perspective he has on Pakistan and the Muslim World. For instance, on April 1, 2005, Cleveland Jewishnews.com quoted Haqqani as having stated: “Muslim world’s problems are much bigger than antagonism to Israel, Jews and Militancy.” He went on to hold the Saudis responsible for almost every problem.

Given how Saudi Arabia is one of Pakistan’s most critical allies, apart from the deep emotive bond between the two Muslim nations, this statement would hardly have gone down well before either Pakistanis or Saudis. But this anti-Saudi theme has been a particular favourite of the ambassador’s. For instance, on an earlier occasion, on March 2, 2004, at the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs he declared that “ Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are two of the US’s most difficult allies … They are not allies at all … but sources of trouble … The fact that (an al Qaeda terrorist) feels so comfortable with Pakistani intelligence officers … is a source of worry in itself.”

Foreign Minister’s Son lobbying against Pakistan

October 20, 2009

Kureshi-Sons-V.-Card
Islamabad—The debate on the controversial John Kerry-Lugar Bill has taken a new critical turn after lawyer Ahmad Raza Kasuri revealed in a private television talk show that son of the foreign minister is on staff of Senator John Kerry in Washington, working as Legislative Fellow. Foreign Minister’s son Mr. Zain H. Qureshi’s assignment is clearly linked with John Kerry’s legislature work. Against this backdrop, foreign minister’s vociferous defence of John Kerry-Lugar Bill tends to lose all lustre.

Pakistan cuts deal with anti-American militants

October 20, 2009

Pakistan’s army, in the midst of a major new offensive against Taliban militants, has struck deals to keep two powerful, anti-U.S. tribal chiefs from joining the battle against the government, officials said Monday. The deals increase the chances of an army victory against Pakistan’s internal enemy No. 1, but indicate that the 3-day-old assault into the Taliban’s strongholds in South Waziristan may have less effect than the U.S. wants on a spreading insurgency across the border in Afghanistan.

Under the terms agreed to about three weeks ago, Taliban renegades Maulvi Nazir and Hafiz Gul Bahadur will stay out of the current fight in parts of South Waziristan controlled by the Pakistani Taliban. They will also allow the army to move through their own lands unimpeded, giving the military additional fronts from which to attack the Taliban. In exchange, the army will ease patrols and bombings in the lands controlled by Nazir and Bahadur, two Pakistani intelligence officials based in the region told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because revealing their identities would compromise their work.

Israel Spearheading deadly US, India Troika

October 19, 2009

PKKH | EXCLUSIVE

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday that a controversial television drama which shows actors dressed as Israeli soldiers killing Palestinian children will not be taken off air. This is the latest, in line of cracks that have appeared in the Israeli-Turkish relationship. Recently the Turkish government has developed a serious mistrust and suspicion of Israel and Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Earlier in January this year the Turkish Prime Minister walked out of World Economic Forum after a heated debate with Shimon Peres. This was not a random moment but a well calculated political move on Turkey’s part. On returning home from the Forum, Turkish Prime Minister was greeted with millions of people on streets celebrating outburst of Turkish anger against Israel. During the Israeli massacre of Gaza, most animated protests against Israel took place in Turkey.

Israel has been playing a nefarious double game with Turkey. This is directly posing a serious threat to Turkish national Interest. Turkish nation maybe split in two distinct groups of practicing Muslims and secular Muslims but when it comes to national interests’ Turkish nation is united like ‘Wall of China’. After the US invasion of Iraq, Israel started meddling into Kurdish Iraq. Israel wants to control the Oil of Kurdish Iraq, and eventually use the political conditions to create an independent country of Kurdistan. This will include part of land that is currently part of Turkey. Turkish Army and Air Force has carried out many operations against Kurdish Rebels during the last three years. Turkey is improving its relationship with Syria, and Russia. This is something that is neither in favor of the US nor Israel. Most recent event that further soured Turk-Israeli relationship was the cancellation of a military exercise between the two nations. Turkey is also not on board with Israel’s plan to attack Iran using Turkish airspace. Just like in 2003, Turkey refused to allow US Air force to launch operations into Iraq using Turkish bases.

War Next Door Creates Havoc in Pakistan

October 19, 2009

Eric Margolis

Pakistan, increasingly destabilized by the U.S.-led war in neighbouring Afghanistan, is getting closer to blowing apart.  Bombings and shootings have rocked this nation of 167 million, including a brazen attack on army HQ in Rawalpindi and a massive bombing of Peshawar’s exotic Khyber Bazaar. Pakistan’s army is readying a major offensive against rebellious Pashtun tribes in South Waziristan. Meanwhile, the feeble, deeply unpopular U.S.-installed government in Islamabad faces an increasingly rancorous confrontation with the military.

Like the proverbial bull in the china shop, the Obama administration and U.S. Congress chose this explosive time to try to impose yet another layer of American control over Pakistan as Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama appears about to send thousands more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.
Tragically, U.S. policy in the Muslim world continues to be driven by imperial arrogance, profound ignorance, and special interest groups.
The current Kerry-Lugar-Berman bill, advanced with President Barack Obama’s blessing, is ham-handed dollar diplomacy at its worst. Pakistan, bankrupted by corruption and feudal landlords, is being offered $7.5 billion US over five years — but with outrageous strings attached.
