Pakistan’s Friends Roll Out The Red Carpet For A Pakistani Nationalist Statesman
Throughout his trip in China, former President Musharraf was accorded head of state protocol and extensive security. In-between lectures, he was invited to several banquets by various provincial governors and senior Chinese Communist Party officials. He continues to be very popular among the Chinese younger generation.

Washington: Describing Pakistan as the “principle” nuclear threat to Russia, an eminent foreign policy and security expert has claimed that Moscow would support any US endeavour to take away Islamabad’s atomic weapons in case of any destabilisation in the Islamic nation.
It’s not about war on terror, it never was, it’s not about Al-Qaeda, and it never was. It’s not about Baitullah Mehsud either. It was always about US imperialism and hegemony. Renowned political thinker and linguist of our time Noam Chomsky, has got it right in his famous quote, “Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.” No wonder that the US, its allies, and our corrupt sell out government are repeating the same propaganda over and over again. ‘It’s our war’, it’s our war’, no it’s not our war. It’s US, India backed war inside Pakistan and we have to defend ourselves at all costs. This is ugly face of modern warfare. This is not 1965, warfare has changed altogether. Its multi dimensioned warfare now. Modern warfare is also called 4th generation warfare.
LAHORE: Authorities in Pakistan confirmed this morning to be in possession of credible evidence implicating Indian government and agencies in the March 3rd attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore.
The Lahore Police announced having information about those responsible for the assault in a press conference.
“With the help of other intelligence agencies there has been considerable progress in this case. One thing is for sure that there is an Indian hand behind the attack,” Lahore Police Chief Pervez Rathore told reporters here.
“I must tell you that there is credible evidence of Indian involvement in the attack,” he said.
Police sources also confirmed the arrest of an Indian intelligence operative in Rawalipindi and recovered important documents from his posession including maps of targets in major cities. The information provided by the arrested Indian national has already led to at least five further arrests.
Afghanistan was not militarily winnable by the British Empire at the height of its supremacy. It was not winnable by Darius or Alexander, by Shah, Tsar or Great Moghul. It could not be subdued by 240,000 Soviet troops. But what, precisely, are we trying to win?
In six years, the occupation has wrought one massive transformation in Afghanistan, a development so huge that it has increased Afghan GDP by 66 per cent and constitutes 40 per cent of the entire economy. That is a startling achievement, by any standards. Yet we are not trumpeting it. Why not?
The answer is this. The achievement is the highest harvests of opium the world has ever seen.
What the Administration must absolutely resist is the temptation of more ambitious goals in Afghanistan, like rooting out the entire Taliban or fostering Western-style democracy. We must never forget that it was al-Qaeda who attacked us and not the Taliban, which is not an international terrorist group. If we make the all-too-common mistake of reducing the Taliban to al-Qaeda, it becomes an open-ended and endless war.
Like her husband, Mrs. Zalmay Khalilzad [real name Cheryl Benard] barely conceals her contempt for Pakistan’s right to decide its own national interest. Ahmed Quraishi engaged her in this dialogue on Aljazeera the day after US President Obama announced his new Afghan policy. MUST WATCH
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—For the first time in a long time, the Pakistani government managed to turn heads in Washington by saying all things America doesn’t want to hear: Islamabad will not allow the United States to expand its war inside Pakistan, won’t allow U.S. boots on the ground, and CIA better stop its drone attacks ASAP. If this was not enough, the ISI chief reportedly refused to meet top U.S. officials and a former air force chief announced that the Pakistani Air Force is just a green signal away from shooting down CIA’s drones and that it only awaited orders from the President and the Prime Minister.
Should we start a civil war because some liberal extremists in our elite are upset about the alleged flogging video?
Some occasions are not meant for settling scores. But a minority in our elite that has an ideological problem with religion is at it again. They are not even willing to stop and consider a range of possibilities, including the possibility of foul play. Now we have a statement from the girl named in the video confirming this is not her. She still lives in the village supposedly cited in the video and no one there has seen this flogging take place.
Jaipur: The RSS said on Tuesday that Hindutva is the “identity” of the country and asked the people to be proud of it.
“Our identity is Hindutva and the people should be proud of it. The society should work for removal of evils and the welfare of the country,” RSS chief Mohan Rao Bhagwat said while addressing volunteers at a gathering in Jaipur. “India is a Hindu nation, which is an eternal fact,” he claimed.
The U.S. demands that Pakistan’s Directorate of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), its spy agency, sever relations with the Taliban. Based on Pakistan’s own geography, this makes no sense from a Pakistani point of view. First of all, maintaining lines of communications and back channels with the enemy is what intelligence agencies do. What kind of a spy service would ISI be if it had no contacts with one of the key players that will help determine its neighbor’s future?
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency chief on Tuesday refused to meet visiting US Special Representative Richard Holbrooke and American military commander Admiral Mike Mullen in an apparent reaction to criticism of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency for its alleged links with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Earlier, the Chief of Army staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had categorically said that continued drones attacks and baseless allegations on Pakistan intelligence agency ‘ISI’ are increasingly making it difficult for Pakistan to cooperate with the US in achieving the objectives of war on terror.
NEW DELHI: A Sikh journalist threw a shoe at India’s Home Minister during Chidambaram at a news conference on Tuesday as Chidambaram was replying to a question posed by a Sikh journalist on the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on the Sikh Genocide in 1984. Sometimes it becomes difficult to isolate legend from truth in an account. Kashmiri girls are meeting similar fate regularly in their midst and yet they are failed to see who was using them and what kind of legend was being attached to their lives while sending them to journey of death by those very people who are supposed to protect them. This paper is not an attempt to malign any single party involved in Kashmir dispute as culprit but to showcase the victimization of local girls for own gains by the parties involved.
The new strategy Indian army has adopted in occupied Kashmir to track down militants using poor Kashmiri women and girls is proving far more fatal for the innocent women than for the militants.
At the time of writing this, too much has already been written, said and criticized about the alleged flogging of a teenage girl in a remote area of Swat (Pakistan) by a self-proclaimed Islamic group calling themselves representatives of “Talibaan Movement in Pakistan”.
This act has once again brought Islam and Shariah at the focal point for global media who are working overtime in portraying the punishment as Islamic and then as barbaric including an attempt to attach it with implementation of Shariah laws by radical Islamists.
Here we have attempted to raise some key points and questions to help readers in evaluating the case themselves and come up to their own conclusions:
Chand Bibi, the 17-year-old girl who was shown being held down by three men while a fourth flogged her, reportedly told the judge of a Qazi or Islamic court and Divisional Commissioner Syed Mohammad Javed yesterday that such an incident had never happened.
North West Frontier Province Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told The News daily that Chand Bibi had made a statement to the two officials who visited her village of Kala Killay in Kabal sub-division yesterday.
Hussain said the fake video had been used to tarnish the reputation of the people of Swat and to disrupt the peace process in the area. “We condemn the acts of repression against women… But the incident depicted in the videotape never took place in Swat,” he said.
He claimed the videotape was released as “part of a conspiracy to foil the peace agreement in Swat and put pressure on President (Asif Ali) Zardari not to sign” a regulation for implementing Islamic law in the region.
This comes after Malakand Division Commissioner Syed Mohammad Javed was quoted by local media as saying that the incident shown in the video clip had not happened in the Swat valley and that the accents of the people heard speaking in the video were not those of the region.
“This fabricated video clip is a conspiracy to sabotage the Swat peace deal between the Taliban and the NWFP government,” the commissioner said after his visit to the Kala Kalay village where the incident is alleged to have taken place.
Chairman Pakistan International Human Rights, Raja Liaquat Ali has also said that the video footage of a 17-year old Swat girl being aired on media is fictitious and termed it a conspiracy to malign Islam.
Addressing a press conference in Swat Press Club, he said the video footage of a girl being flogged in public has nothing to do with Swat and that it is a made-up video.
“The purpose of displaying this video is to tarnish the image of Islam.”
He said some elements want the Swat peace agreement to fizzle out.

President Obama has said that Al-Qaeda has strongholds in Tribal Areas of Pakistan and from there they are planning to attack US. He also mentioned that the US plans to expand its ‘war on terror’ inside Pakistan. This statement of Obama coincided with another statement and that, from terrorist number one. No it’s not Osama! Current terrorist number one is Baitullah Mehsud, based in Tribal areas of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s enemies are preparing to deliver a decisive blow. Pakistan has suffered grievously on all counts and its very foundations have been jolted in the seven years of America’s occupation of Afghanistan. It is most unfortunate that in this gory plan, some of the political parties friendly to India, western sponsored NGOs, intellectuals and writers have also contributed towards disinformation campaign and bringing bad name to Pakistan.
We should criticize the Swat flogging [if it isn’t fake] without endorsing ‘Asma Jehangirism’. Understand the problem of these terrorists masquerading as ‘Pakistani Taliban’ and you’ll understand enemy from friend in our tribal region.
